Annual Sports Awards 2008

Following on from the success of previous years’ Awards Evenings and a tremendous sporting year in the District, nominations are now being sought in the following categories for the Annual Sports Awards 2008: 

1. Club  -  J E Woodman Trophy
2. Adult Team  -  Tynedale Sports Council
3. Youth Team  -  Ian Turner Trophy
4. High School Team  -  Isobel Iceton Trophy
5. Middle School Team  -  David Thompson Trophy
6. Young Sports Leader of the Year – Tynedale School Sport Partnership Trophy
7. Disabled Sportsperson  -  N P F A Trophy
8. Sportswoman  -  Hexham Courant trophy
9. Sportsman  -  Hexham Courant Trophy
10. Young Player (Boy)  -  Edward Waite trophy
11. Young Player (Girl)  -  Gordon Brewis Trophy
12. Sports Personality  -  Michael Sharman Trophy
13. Disabled Sports Personality
14. Coach of the Year  -  Grant Thornton Bobby Wood Memorial Trophy
15. The Tynedale Trophy  -  Councillor John Mennim

 

Stan Calvert Annual Scholarship

In recognition of the significant contribution made by Stan Calvert towards the promotion and development of sport in Tynedale and in the Northern region, an Annual Scholarship, sponsored by Tyne Valley Insurance, has been inaugurated in both his honour and his memory.  Whoever is successful will receive a grant of £500 and a small memento.  The presentation will be made during the Tynedale Sports Council Annual Presentation of Awards, which will be held early in December, 2008.

A written application by the young person himself/herself, using the attached form, should be submitted to Tynedale Sports Council by FRIDAY 7th NOVEMBER, 2008.
