About NCL Sports Development
NCL Sports Development team is based at NCL's head office in Hexham. Their main purpose is to increase and sustain participation in sport and physical activity in our large rural area. The most effective way to achieve this is to enable local people to run local activity. The team offers help and support to local people to take an active role in sport in their own community.
There are many community sports clubs run by enthusiastic volunteers but the increase in legislation makes running a club more onerous. The team can help with policies, procedures, rules, regulations and funding bids to develop activity or start a new one. They can also help with local training courses for coaches and volunteers. They would love to hear from anyone interested in becoming a coach.
The Team includes qualified coaches who take activities to the local communities e.g Otterburn, Allendale & Haltwhistle. Get in touch if there is scope to develop sporting activities in your area.
Partnership working is a vital to our success. It avoids duplication and allows the team to share resources with other organisations. The team also co-ordinates 'Active Tynedale', a multi-agency group whose members all have a passion for sport and physical activity and the team works with National Governing Bodies to support specific sports.
We are committed to the promotion and development of disability sport, so you can contact us directly if you have a disability and would like to participate or volunteer in sport. NCL Sports Developement continuously review and update our action on a regular basis with an annual review.
NCL (West) Sports Development Strategy is available to download from this site. There is an Action Plan which accompanies the strategy which is a working document. Copies can be requested from the Sports Development Team.
