What’s included in the Better Swimmers Sooner scheme?
In additional to weekly swimming lessons, your payment includes:
1) FREE public swimming and a FREE leisure card for your child: To encourage children to become “better swimmers sooner” we include FREE general public swimming admission at Copeland Swimming Pool to all children on swimming lessons. So that we can identify the children eligible for general public swimming we provide all children on the scheme with a FREE leisure card.
Please note: Children who already have a leisure card will have their membership type changed to include free public swimming. Our general swimming conditions (printed below and on all our leaflets) apply.
2) Providing more lessons: We provide up to 50 weeks of swimming lessons per year, with a two week break at Christmas. By offering more lessons we believe that your child’s stamina and ability will be maintained throughout the year, with no drop off caused by not receiving lessons for six weeks in the summer. Because of the ‘better swimmers sooner’ scheme your child has the opportunity to progress faster.
We are currently teaching more than 800 children to swim each week after school and at weekends. Although an enormous amount of hard work is put in by the children and instructors we still have a waiting list. We believe that this scheme is helping more children to learn to swim sooner, benefiting the community as a whole.
3) All badges and certificates are provided FREE as part of the scheme.
