10/09/2008
Whitehaven Civic Hall, managed by North Country Leisure Copeland, in partnership with Copeland Borough Council, has long been recognised as a popular venue for both local and international bands with recent performers including the Zutons and The Jam. The bar and catering areas have now received a much needed face lift of to further improve the building.
The redevelopment work includes new equipment and bar areas in the Civics’ two function halls along with complete refurbishment of the kitchen area allowing for catering on site for up to 200 guests.
“The recent developments will help us to increase the speed of service at the bar on our busy band nights and the new kitchen will allow us to expand our party and function packages and the quality of catering on offer,” said Phil Sutton, Manager of the Civic Hall. “The building has seen a lot of improvements over the past 12 months and is now a great entertainment venue and an ideal space for wedding receptions and parties.”
The new bar will open to the public on Saturday 30th August when local heroes ‘It Bites’ will be performing as part of their UK and European tour to support their new album ‘The Tall Ships’. Further bands booked during September include ‘Bad Company 2008’ and ‘The Animals and Friends Featuring Spenser Davies’.
